Combining the talents of three award-winning soloists, the Weiss-Kaplan-Newman Trio embraces the music of the future while offering fresh insights into three centuries of masterworks. The Weiss-Kaplan-Newman Trio was founded in 2001, and has presented concerts throughout the US, Europe and the Middle East. Other international festival performances have included appearances at the Jeju Island Music Festival in Korea and the Festival of the Sound in Canada. Among upcoming performances are appearances for Baltimore’s Shriver Hall Concert Series and at Washington’s National Gallery – the latter concert to include the premiere of a new Piano Trio by Clancy Newman. The Trio will be presenting Beethoven’s complete works for piano trio in three concerts this summer.
A recent release (2008) from Bridge Records presents the Trio's recording of Paul Chihara’s trio, “Ain’t No Sunshine”. The Weiss-Kaplan-Newman Trio commissioned this work, and performed its World Premiere in 2006 at the Kennedy Center. The Trio’s appearance on St. Paul Sunday has been broadcast nationally several times, and was selected for St. Paul Sunday's “Best of the Year” CD. Highlights of the 2010-11 season feature several world premier performances, including Joel Feigin’s Piano Concerto, dedicated to Ms. Weiss.

The Voxare String Quartet was formed in 2008 and has since received critical praise for its inventive programming, technical prowess, attention to detail, and passionate performances. The New York Times recently declared that Voxare plays with “penetrating tone and lucid textures,” and has on numerous occasions chosen Voxare as its Classical Pick of the Week. Voxare is a frequent performer at Bargemusic in New York City where they have been quartet-in-residence. Voxare has been featured live on WNYC’s Soundcheck, and its concerts broadcast on WQXR. Voxare’s unique performing activities earned the quartet Chamber Music America’s 2010 ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. Voxare has studied with the Juilliard String Quartet at its String Quartet Seminar and with the Kronos Quartet through Carnegie Hall.
With a repertoire spanning five centuries, Voxare has frequently worked closely with leading composers, including Pulitzer Prize winners Ned Rorem and David Del Tredici. In 2010, Voxare was Quartet-in-Residence at the International Computer Music Conference, and presented a three day Mostly Riley Festival to celebrate the 75th birthday of Terry Riley at Bargemusic. This season, Voxare performs works by living composers at its residency series, DIG IT! New Music, at Teachers College, Columbia University, and a residency at Dartmouth College, as well as a series of concerts for Columbia University’s Lunchtime Series featuring works of Barber, Copland, Ives, and Thomson. Their debut recording project, for the Naxos label, will feature works of Daron Hagen.
Voxare is not afraid to break down the boundaries of classical music; they have made and performed their own transcriptions of popular and rock music and often perform in alternative concert venues, presenting innovative concerts focused on unique and accessible presentations of contemporary chamber music while assimilating classical standards and popular music. Voxare can be heard on the soundtracks of several films shown at festivals such as Sundance and Tribeca.

Currently the Graduate String Quartet-in-Residence at the Yale School of Music, the Linden String Quartet has been praised for its "remarkable depth of technique and brilliantly nuanced, sumptuous tonality…delivered with a palpable, infectious joy." The Quartet is the gold medalist and grand prize-winner of the 2009 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition as well as winner of the 2010 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition. Other awards include first prize at the Sixth Hugo Kauder International Competition and the Coleman-Barstow prize at the 2009 Coleman National Chamber Ensemble Competition. The Quartet previously served both as apprentice to the Cavani String Quartet at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) and as Quartet-in-Residence of the Canton Symphony Orchestra. Dedicated to community outreach and education, the Linden String Quartet regularly performs for elementary through high school audiences around the United States.
The Quartet’s principle mentors are the Cavani and Tokyo String Quartets, Peter Salaff, and Paul Kantor. Other influential teachers include Donald Weilerstein and William Preucil of the Cleveland Quartet, Joel Smirnoff of the Juilliard String Quartet, and members of the St. Lawrence String Quartet. The Quartet has collaborated with guitarist Jason Vieaux, mezzo-soprano Jana Baty, violinist Geoff Nuttall, and pianist Peter Frankl. The Quartet has spent summers in residence at the Norfolk and Emilia-Romagna Music Festivals, the Banff Centre, and the Music at Port Milford Chamber Music Festival in Ontario, Canada.
